When creating goals for the season, it is important to ensure that they are S.M.A.R.T., Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Going into this upcoming season, Team Scrap Metal has several S.M.A.R.T. goals.
Having both short term and long term goals is important to Team Scrap Metal. See how our short term plans feed into our long term goals below.
Creating a sustainable team includes preparing for the future. This is where we see Team Scrap Metal in roughly ten years.
Receive the Rookie All-Star Award at either regional (March 2025). The Rookie All-Star Award focuses on rookie teams who perform at a high level at their regionals. Students can learn abilities and display them to judges at the competition, encouraging them to learn technical skills and enhance their non-technical skills.
Grow the team to have 20 students for the 2025 season by kickoff (January 4th, 2025) to expand the students we impact in our community while ensuring the team will have a sufficient number of students to run smoothly at events and support the team throughout the season.
Have a 40% gender minority population of students on the team by the start of the season (January 2025) to create a welcoming and equitable environment for all students.
Fundraise $50,000 by the end of the season (April 2025) to keep the team sustainable, continue impacting current students, and expand to impact more people.
Build a competitive in-season robot (March 2025) to engage students, perform well at the competition, and create an applicable learning environment for all students to enhance their skills.
Team Scrap Metal plans to continue to engage with current recruitment sources while expanding to more. Additionally, Team Scrap Metal plans to develop a personalized curriculum for onboarding, teaching, and retaining students.
